Begin a family shopping policy.
We all want things, and our children are no exception. Therefore, in an effort to cut down on our consumption (saving money and helping the environment), try instituting a 24-hour waiting period before buying anything new. If our children begin to learn that they can’t immediately have the newest thing they saw on a commercial, chances are, they might forget they ever wanted it in the first place. And while those tantrums in the toy aisle won’t stop instantly, perhaps we’ll all begin to realize that the things we think we want are rarely the things we really need.
