5 minutes of caring

Fill It Again, Mom

Fill It Again, Mom

Get all you can out of your bottles and jars.

We've talked about rinsing your bottles and jars prior to recycling them, but that can seem like a waste of perfectly good water. Here are some ideas on how to save water while getting a bit more out of your containers:

  • When the dish soap bottle is nearly out, fill it with water and use the concoction to wash dishes.
  • Use the water from rinsing your milk carton as an activator for your compost.
  • Fill juice bottles with water and make a tasty juice/water cocktail for the kids.

How do you extend the life of your bottles and jars?

My dogs each have their own water bowls. They won't drink "stale" water, so each morning I combine the water into one bowl, rinse the empty and add that rinse water to the other bowl, then use it to water my plants. Saves water and is a daily reminder the plants are thirsty, too!
