Everywhere (U.S.)

Job Title – Green Genius, Problem Solver, Entrepreneur
Location – Contest is open to legal residents of the United States (excluding Arizona) and the District of Columbia
Position Type – Project
Compensation – $5,000 and free smoothies for a year

Position Description
Duties – Just one.  Save the Planet. Specifically, save the Planet by creating a solution to polystyrene.    In today’s marketplace, if you want to keep something cold, you only have two choices: re-usable containers (like Planet Smoothie’s Mac Daddy Mug) or polystyrene. And while Planet Smoothie uses polystyrene from recycled materials, we’re not wild about what happens when people are finished using it. So what’s the solution?

No really. What’s the solution?
It could be an alternative cup material that easily breaks down (only after our customers finish their smoothie). Or it could be a method of re-using polystyrene cups (insulation for arctic gear, perhaps?).  To the individual who comes up with the smartest way to “re-use it or lose it,” Planet Smoothie will reward $5,000 and free smoothies for a year.  Qualifications – Ideal candidate is a bright, environmentally aware individual who loves Planet Smoothie and Mother Earth – someone who is inspired to invent something good. Something so good that the entire planet will benefit.

Your work history is not important to us, and we don’t care if you are well educated or if you’ve ever invented a thing in your life.  What we do care about is the planet, and Planet Smoothie is seeking someone equally passionate about being good for the planet.  (Note: if you’re only interested in winning the $5K, and have the ability to make it happen, that’s OK too. The ends justify the means.)

To submit for this challenge or to learn more about Planet Smoothie, visit www.planetsmoothie.com. To be considered, submissions must include the following:  (1) name, affiliation (if applicable), mailing address, email, age (you must be at least 18) and contact information; (2) 250-word description of the solution and why you think it’s a solution to polystyrene (without disclosing future patent secrets); and (3) photo of you with your solution. Planet Smoothie.  Good for You.  Good for the Planet.
